Led by the State Economic & Trade Commission, officially approved and registered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China on April 16, 1990, China Hairdressing & Beauty Association (CHBA) is the only incorporated association of the industry in China.
Since its establishment, the aim of China Hairdressing & Beauty Association is to carry forward the Chinese national culture of hair and beauty and to develop the Chinese hair and beauty industry. The major duty of CHBA is to manage the industry, to serve the public, and to accelerate the cooperation between home and abroad. On that premise, CHBA has committed itself to increasing the members, making industrial management, assisting the government in making and carrying out relative regulations, introducing the latest skills and products, organizing all kinds of competitions and training causes, and publishing professional books and newspapers.
At present, CHBA has more than 1000 group members and 20000 individual members from all of the country. The group members include local associations, enterprises and training schools. The individual members include the salon managers, hairstylists, beauticians, experts, scholars, schoolmasters, and so on. CHBA also makes its own magazines, newspapers and website, which tighten the relationship between CHBA and its members. CHBA has gained a reputation of "big family" in the Chinese beauty industry.
It has been ten years since CHBA held the first China International Beauty Festival in Beijing in 1995. In ten years, CHBA has committed considerable efforts to promoting the development of the Chinese beauty industry. Now this yearly event has become a great occasion receiving local and global attention with its canonical competitions, large-scaled exhibitions and qualified academic seminars.
In recent years, CHBA attached importance to the international communications. There were frequent visits and many corporation chances. At the end of 1998, CHBA became a member country of the top-grade organization -OMC, and made it a beginning in its international affairs.
In the new century, CHBA will appear more active and energetic, and help the Chinese beauty industry in making rapid progress.
